Lives and works in Munich, Germany

Member of the national association of visual artists in Germany (BBK)

Selected works available via Sobering Galerie Paris and Galerie Biesenbach Cologne

Vanessa Luschmanns work focuses on the expression of emotion - both on an individual and collective level. She uses autobiographical material and transforms it into a portrayal of contemporary times and the state of a generation through her perspective, offering the viewer solidarity in the shared feeling of vulnerability.

While seeking for emotion and meaning in everyday scenes she creates a narrative around lifeless objects. Although her works are characterized by a bright color palette, there is often an invisible veil of melancholy overshadowing the settings, indicating subtly that something is not quite alright. She plays with the ambiguity of such colorful formal approach and a certain severity of interpretation, combining  tragedy, comedy and absurdity with humorous details.

Her motifs are carefully arranged and yet not sole reflections of reality, but rather a condensation of it. As silent observers of what is happening, they do not offer answers to the burning issues of our time - instead the search for them becomes the actual goal.
